Balta Mitrea se află în extravilanul satului Stănești, comuna Stănești, județul Giurgiu, într-un grup de trei-patru iazuri de 3-5 ha alimentate de pârâul numit local Jincuța. Un articol Giurgiu News (19 noiembrie 2023) despre o mortalitate a peștilor în bălțile de pescuit din Stănești menționează în aceste iazuri crap de 5-7 kg, novac, fitofag și caras, iar balta afectată avea un administrator.
