Râul Prahova traversează orașul Bușteni, stațiune montană la poalele Munților Bucegi, județul Prahova. Sectorul face parte din habitatul „Râul Prahova superioară” (confluența cu Valea Râșnoavei – confluența cu Valea Fetii, 23 km), contractat de AVPS Câmpina (lista ANPA): pe lângă permisul ANADSPA (fosta ANPA) e nevoie de permisul asociației. În zona montană a cursului superior, apele râului găzduiesc specii precum păstrăvul.
