Râul Târnava Mare este curs de apă public din județul Harghita. Respectă perioadele de prohibiție și dimensiunile minime legale. Conform listei ANPA a habitatelor contractate (23.02.2026), Râul Târnava Mare inferior (Desag – Odorhei, 47 Km) este contractat de AVPS TÂRNAVA MARE: pe lângă permisul ANADSPA (fosta ANPA) e nevoie de permisul asociației. În perimetrul orașului Odorheiu Secuiesc pescuitul pe Târnava Mare e interzis tot anul (Ordinul 23/297/2025, art. 4 lit. ș).
