What you need

  • main line 0.18-0.22 mm
  • 30-60 g feeder with a snap
  • anti-tangle sleeve or a loop of line
  • small swivel + snap
  • 0.12-0.16 mm hooklength, 40-80 cm
  • hook size 10-14

Steps

  1. 1

Loop version: double 20 cm of the main line and tie a 10-15 cm double loop (figure 8) -- the feeder slides on it, clipped to a snap.

  2. 2

5-10 cm below the loop, tie a small loop (figure 8) for the hooklength.

  3. 3

Anti-tangle version: thread the line through the anti-tangle sleeve (bend towards the feeder), add a bead and tie on the swivel; the feeder clips onto the sleeve's snap.

  4. 4

Attach the hooklength (40-80 cm, longer in cold water) loop-to-loop or to the swivel.

  5. 5

Adjust: in current shorten the hooklength (30-50 cm), in still water lengthen it up to 1 m.

Tips

  • The feeder should touch the bottom with the line taut; a slightly bent rod tip shows the bite.
  • Don't pack the groundbait too tightly in the feeder: it should break up within 1-2 minutes.
