Jig for zander and perch
Spinning on the bottom: zander on lakes and the Danube, perch on holes and structures.
easy to rig · hard to master

What you need
- braid 0.08-0.12 mm
- 0.25-0.35 mm fluorocarbon leader, 1-1.5 m (FG or Albright knot)
- 5-20 g jig head, hook 1-3/0
- twister / shad 5-10 cm
- optional: small snap
Steps
- 1
Tie the leader to the braid (FG/Albright), then the jig head with a Palomar or clinch.
- 2
Thread the shad straight onto the hook: the point comes out on the lure's back, with the lure straight and without kinks.
- 3
Choose the weight: the jig should hit the bottom in 3-5 s; deep water or current = heavier.
- 4
A “stepped” retrieve: 1-2 turns of the reel + a pause with bottom contact; or short twitches of the tip.
- 5
A zander bite is a sharp tap during the pause: strike immediately and firmly.
Tips
- Always keep the line taut during the pause, or you won't feel the bite.
- The jig's hook must be sharp: test it on your fingernail after every snag.
