The base to start from on any lowland lake; adjust it with flavourings by season.
all seasons
Ingredients
- 1 kg breadcrumb (ground biscuit / dry bread)
- 300 g fine cornmeal
- 200 g sunflower meal or seed cake
- 100 g ground sweet biscuits
- 50 g milk powder (optional, clouds the water)
- enough water to bind it lightly
- summer: sweet flavour (vanilla, honey); winter: neutral/salty, with a little garlic
Steps
- 1
Mix all the dry ingredients in a bucket.
- 2
Add water little by little, stirring; stop when a squeezed handful holds as a ball but crumbles when pressed.
- 3
Leave for 10-15 minutes to absorb the water, then pass it through a 4 mm riddle for an even mix.
- 4
At the bank, add chopped maggots, sweetcorn or pellets to the portion for the feeder, not to the whole bucket.
Tips
- In current, make the mix wetter and stickier (more cornmeal); in still water, fluffier.
- In winter, small quantities and dark groundbait (molehill soil).
