Particles: prepared maize and hemp

The cheapest groundbait for carp, bream and big Prussian carp; it holds fish in the swim for hours.

Ingredients

  • 1 kg whole maize (feed maize)
  • 500 g hemp
  • salt, sugar (1 spoonful each)
  • optional: flavouring at the end

Steps

    Soak the maize for 24 h in cold water (the hemp for 12 h).

    Boil the maize for 30-45 minutes until the grains split and are soft inside; the hemp for 15-20 minutes, until the seeds split and the white shoot shows.

    Let everything cool in its own water, with salt and sugar; don't throw away the water – it's liquid groundbait.

  4. 4

    Keep it cool for a maximum of 3-4 days; it can be left to ferment slightly (sour smell) – carp love it in summer.

Tips

  • The law: groundbaiting is forbidden on mountain waters with salmonids; some associations ban uncooked particles (raw maize is dangerous for fish) – always boil them.
