Steps

  1. 1

Pass the line through the hook's eye and pull through 10-12 cm.

  2. 2

Twist the tag end around the main line 5-7 times (5 for thick lines, 7 for thin lines).

  3. 3

Push the tag end through the small loop formed right next to the eye.

  4. 4

Then push the same end through the big loop that has just formed (that's the “improvement”).

  5. 5

Wet the knot with saliva and tighten it slowly, pulling on the main line, not the tag end.

  6. 6

Trim the tag end to 2-3 mm.

Tips

  • Don't use it on braid (it slips) -- use a Palomar or Uni there.
  • If the turns cross over, undo it and start again: a crossed knot breaks at half strength.
