Size: 30-40 cm and 300-400 g; maximum 60 cm and 3.5 kg
- Deep, elongated, spindle-shaped, laterally compressed body; relatively large scales
- Relatively small head; related to the trout (has an adipose fin), but silvery, without spots
- Introduced into cold mountain lakes (Lacul Roșu, Bicaz) -- closed season all year
