About this spot

The Mureș River rises in the Hășmaș Mountains, has a total length of 789 km and flows into the Tisza near Szeged, in Hungary. In its first kilometres it flows through the Giurgeu Depression, and the stretch from the springs to the confluence with the Borzont stream (near Joseni) is the “Izvorul Mureș” habitat, contracted to AVPS Gheorghieni: in addition to the ANADSPA (formerly ANPA) recreational fishing permit, you need the association's permit. The known fishing spot is by the village of Chileni. This is a mountain stretch, with trout and grayling: fishing is allowed only during the day, between sunrise and sunset. Downstream, from the iron bridge at Subcetate to the Mureș County line, the river belongs to AVPS Toplița (see “Râul Mureș (Toplița)”). Observe the closed seasons and the legal minimum sizes.
